A space where
senses converge
Synesthesia Art Gallery proposes a space where painting, photography, light, music and scent converge to generate an expanded sensory experience. The perfumer activates a unique aromatic composition that accompanies the exhibition, the light, and the music created by the gallery's artists.

March 20 – April 20, 2026 · Barcelona
A dialogue between two distinct practices united by a shared obsession: the material surface as site of meaning. Alsina's body-as-canvas photographs meet Pons's fold-driven paintings in a meditation on perception, texture, and the limits of form.

The gallery proposes a total sensory experience — painting, photography, light, scent and music converge to create an expanded encounter with the work.

Folds of feeling, knots of perfection
"The skin is my canvas."
Joan Alsina defines himself as a photographer who works with and adds texture to the human body. His series Textures captures the essence of substance — the energy of the soul on diaphanous backgrounds. Working in black and white, Alsina applies clay, dirt, honey, oil, paint and other materials directly to the body, creating hybrid figures halfway between human and spirit.
The work of photographer Joan Alsina can be read as a visual exploration of the fold — not only in its formal dimension, but as a sensory experience. In his images, texture is not a mere surface attribute: it is a territory where light bends, where matter folds back upon itself and where time seems to sediment.

In Le Pli: Leibniz et le Baroque, Gilles Deleuze develops the idea of the fold as an ontological principle — not simply a form, but a logic of matter and thought: everything folds, unfolds and refolds infinitely.

Joan Alsina's photography can be understood as a Deleuzian practice: an investigation into how light folds the surface, how matter becomes visible thought, and how texture becomes the place where the sensible and the conceptual meet.

Synesthesia is the intensification of perception
"The fold as a metaphor for thought."
Antoni Pons Sanchez's practice is grounded in textures and folds, inspired by the philosophy of Gilles Deleuze and the visual poetics of Joan Brossa. His paintings propose the canvas as a thinking surface — a site where language and image collapse into one another.

His series Synesthesia (2025) brings together painting and writing in a single gesture, exploring the crossover between perception and thought, sign and sensation.

Our gallery produces physical memories, not just aesthetic impressions
"A simplicity that resists being swallowed."
Robres's series A Bone in the Throat uses visual simplicity to attract the viewer. But the meanings do not go down easily. Like a bone in the throat, they interrupt easy consumption and leave behind a moment of friction, discomfort, or reflection.

Where art comes to life

Joan Alsina's gallery is the beating heart of his practice — a vast, light-filled space in Barcelona where photography, sculpture, and performance converge. It is here that the body becomes canvas, that texture is applied, and that the long meditative process that precedes each work takes place.

The gallery is not merely a workspace. It is a laboratory of perception, a space for spiritual contemplation before creation. Each work in the Textures series is preceded by a period of stillness and preparation that can last hours — the gallery holding that silence.

Visitors, collectors and institutions are welcome to visit by appointment. The gallery is available for private viewings of works in progress and completed editions.
